Power flushing

Power flushing keeps your central heating system working efficiently and in good condition.

We offer power flushing and descaling services to domestic and light commercial central heating systems. We use the latest power filtration, magnetic processes and chemicals developed by leading UK manufacturers.

What is central heating power flushing?

A central heating flush involves cleansing the heating system using a combination of water, chemicals and magnetic filtration devices. This will remove the majority of sludge deposits and the problems they cause. Power flushing restores the central heating system’s circulation and can improve system efficiency.

  • Central heating pipeReduced fuel bill (up to 20%)
  • Brings improved central heating efficiency
  • Removal of magnetite sludge
  • Cleans the whole heating system, including under floor pipe work
  • Increases boiler and pump life
  • Quicker heat up times
  • Reduces boiler noise
  • Prevents hydrogen gases building up which cause radiator corrosion

Does my central heating system need to be cleaned?

Look out for the signs that your central heating system may need power flushing:

  • Radiator water is dirty
  • Heating system is slow to heat up
  • Radiators need frequent bleeding
  • Boiler failure or lockout
  • Pump failure
  • Pump noise or boiler noise
  • Some radiators are partially or completely cold
  • Blocked radiators
  • Pinhole leaks from radiators
  • Reduced hot water temperature

These problems result from corrosion and the formation of scale and sludge within your central heating system. Professional power flushing will give the system a new lease of life, helping prevent a complete failure and more expensive repairs later on.

Power flushing and new boiler installation

When replacing an existing boiler with a new high efficiency boiler, it’s important to flush the existing central heating system.

New boilers have very tight tolerances in order to meet the high levels of efficiency required; this makes them more prone to blockages from sludge and other loose particles. This may not be obvious and the boiler can still appear to be working normally, but the efficiency of the boiler can be greatly reduced. In some cases the efficiency gain from a new boiler is lost due to system contamination, so a central heating flush is definitely worthwhile.

It’s also worth bearing in mind that if failure occurs due to sludge or other loose particles in a new boiler then the manufacturer’s warranty will usually be invalid.
